Honey Blog #6
14 November 2025
Hello honey lovers!
Did you know that National Honey Day was on 21 October? The theme this year was Buy Local Honey (for example, ahem, us 😉) to support local businesses, bees, biodiversity, livelihoods, and the craft of beekeeping.
“We want everyone to experience the joy of tasting the spring and summer through honey. Each jar of local honey tells a unique story - of flowers like hedgerow bramble, clover, heather or lime - and the weather that shaped the season.” Diane Drinkwater, Chair of the BBKA.
And I’m sure you don’t need me to tell you that winter has definitely arrived, with the clocks changing, the light fading earlier each day, and temperatures dropping. I’ve had a few walks through our apiaries, having a listen and a check (NOT opening anything!), and I’ll tell you, there’s something about the quiet of an apiary in the middle of winter, knowing that the bees are in there doing what they do to survive, that makes you feel like spring is possible.
We’ve got grand plans for spring too! Our hives and harvest are expanding beyond our current operations, and so must we. We will be adding beeswax candles and soft set honey to our product offering, as well as expanding our honey processing room, upgrading extraction equipment and even exploring additional apiary sites! Next year we will have more hives, more bees, more honey products, and more happy customers!
So don’t hoard your Naked Nectar Honey! Use it on delicious recipes like this one for steamed sponge pudding and butterscotch sauce. That way you can be sure your cupboards have space for more delicious Naked Nectar honey and honey by-products next year.
